De “popers” now playing “solitaire!”

It gat some people who love to be noticed. Yuh ever notice how some does try fuh “pope” people photograph by “invading” de space and standing behind? Even some TV programmes does show “popers” in de background. It gat others who does “pope” from de front and stay there even though de thing ain’t concern dem. Everybody remember when some people from de “key” party do just that and tek over de sugar workers protest in de recent past just fuh get notice. De party claim that dem was in “solidarity” with de workers.
But people ain’t see de “key” party marching pun May Day when is de real day fuh show “solidarity!” Dem absent like lil boys who does “skulk” from school! People sehin de party ain’t only “skulk” from de parade, but leff de workers in “solitary!” In other words, de workers pun dem own! People sehin that another reason why de “key” party cut dem presence pun workers day, is because dem ain’t gat no union to call dem own! De Coconut Tree party, now de “Hands Up” party, gat Lincoln Union as dem own. Khemraj now realise that “key” component is missing and it ain’t easily achieve.
De sugar workers realise that de “key” party proper use dem in “championing” dem cause and then turn around and oppose de budget subvention fuh help de industry! But apparently, de “key” party now frighten fuh be notice with de workers since dem false support get expose! That is why Khemraj, Cathy, Gerhard, and de others stay home and play “solitaire” pun dem laptop. While dem enjoying that, dem cut de programme fuh ordinary people fuh get one so that dem can learn fuh play de game too! De self interest in noticeable! Today is “everybody who come” day!

Today is de fifth day of de fifth month and is officially call “Arrival Day”. It suppose to be in celebration of all de ancestors that came decades ago. Some still confuse because dem know is only one particular group that come pun this day. In de past, it use to be call “Indian Arrival Day” and it wasn’t a holiday! Now is “everybody come day”, except de tax man! De confuse ones gat to understand that seeing is plenty groups that came, each can’t get a holiday. One day good enough fuh all! That is what de authorities seh. But plenty believe that it should be “one day fuh each!” and dem planning fuh tek it to de House. Given de current “scissors” action, dem believe de one holiday gon get cut and be replace with six!
Some, including de workers that might be affected by other cuts, seh that is de only cut dem would support. That aside, when de ancestors dem came, things was hard like “iron marble”. Now, things more like “marshmallow”. Imagine asking people now fuh live without electricity, potable water, phones, cable TV, radio, cars, flush toilet, air-conditioning, computers, gas-stove, fast food, sweet drinks, brand-name clothes and shoes, toothpicks and sweet soap? Imagine asking some public servants fuh go to wuk without nail polish, nail file, cosmetics and catalogues that promote certain products? How would dem spend eight hours a day “meaningfully” without dem things? What would dem do?
Some seh even de thought of such things is horrible! That meking dem understand what de ancestors faced! Now, people can’t even imagine life without de things mentioned. It would be “iron marble” time if one of de public servants who don’t have de “tools” fuh do “cosmetic wuk”, come home and have no current and no TV! That would mean frustration pun frustration! Some sehin that might not be a bad thing since such public servants does frustrate de public! That set wouldn’t mind if de whole of May is holiday! Really? De “Gringer” that stole jobs!

Yesterday was World Press Freedom day. Some people believe that it was freedom to “press” so some tek time fuh “press” dem wrinkle clothes. When dem realise that dem had it wrong, dem get vex knowing that dem gat fuh pay and that de light bill gon now be heavy! Dem blaming de media fuh spreading wrong information. Dem use de plenty occasions when de “mukracker” publish wrong information and then had to apologise as de basis fuh sehin de media misinform dem. Dem know dem gat a good case and planning fuh send dem light bill to de “mukracker”. Dem hoping that de paper don’t backtrack pun de payments like how it does backtrack sometimes on wrong stories and other “things!”
But while de day was to remind all that dem gat a right to freely express themselves, some who know that dem gat de right don’t want fuh express themselves! People talking about how a certain organisation that always talkative and which suppose to represent press workers, suddenly gone “dumb” after de budgets cuts to de state media! De same people want fuh know if de silence by de organisation gat fuh do with it being loyal to de opposition. Dem want fuh know if David “gag” de organisation or is because Moses seh “shut yuh so-and-so mouth” that it following instructions and being loyal! Some asking if Moses “part” de organisation from it voice!
While de organisation “pressing” on with dem silence, de affected workers was on May Day sending out de regular SOS call, “May Day, May Day!” Some cringing at de possibility of losing dem jobs. As dem cringe, dem remembering de movie, “De Gringe that stole Christmas”. Now dem calling it, “De Gringer that stole dem jobs!” David sehin is not he alone and that Khemraj should be “branded” as a “Gringe” too! Khemraj seh, “so be it” and such “branding” is “collateral damage”! De workers hoping dem could afford de light bill fuh pressing dem wuking clothes seeing that electricity rates could raise! Lincoln “refreshments” and NCN “reform”

As usual plenty workers come out and walk in de May Day parade. Some feel that de walk was too laborious, so dem stay home. Dem who walk had a “good” time since all “refreshments” was provided by de individual unions! Even though dem walk together, de unions went east and west of each other at de end. So much fuh solidarity! Plenty find “solidarity” in de “refreshments” though de unions not united! After “refreshments”, some just couldn’t walk! Even talking was laborious fuh dem. Others didn’t find it difficult to talk though. Lincoln seh that de labour movement ain’t gon tek it lightly if government mek people lose dem jobs.
He seh he holding government responsible. People want fuh know if he had too much of de “refreshment”! Dem reminding he that is not de government that slash de jobs, but de opposition which Lincoln is part of! Some seh Lincoln, despite he big mouth, frighten fuh tell David about de job cuts even though some of he own supporters on de breadline! Dem who watch de NCN news pun Labour Day afternoon, questioning themselves if dem had some of de “refreshment” that Lincoln had. De news carry first a story about David in de parade before talking about what Uncle Donald did or seh! People seh that gat to be news because de channel does always start with what de President do! Some sehin that de channel trying fuh “reform” fuh please David so it could get it subvention! There was a time when people use to pay plenty money fuh go “backtrack” to Uncle Obama country. That was when this country was in a bad shape and everybody wanted fuh run. Some wanted fuh run, but didn’t had de means so dem end up running into people operating de “backtrack” trade. Then de “traders” was meking plenty money and was always happy. Some who was “traded”, wasn’t happy though because dem end up getting cheat and lose plenty money. Some even sell dem property fuh pay de fee and never get back a cent! De only thing some get was a “free stay” in a detention facility!
Dem wish dem coulda backtrack on de “backtracking”, just like how de workers who are affected by de recent budget cuts wish that de Opposition could backtrack pun dem “scissors action”. It look like some of de people who does consume alcohol backtrack pun dem “intake” because one big company that does mek de “hard stuff” seh it profit get reduced! That is shocking news. People know that de alcohol business is one that would always mek plenty profit because people would consume whether dem happy or sad! People want fuh know if is all dem shows that sehin “no alcohol allowed” meking de company losing profit!
A man who wuk hard fuh de “key” party and who claim that he bring over one thousand votes fuh de party, look like he “losing it” and backtracking on he position in de party. Apparently, de man who claim to be a “immigration consultant”, and de “key” party key protestor, Gerhard, get wrong. Today is Labour Day and it ain’t gat nothing to do with expecting mothers in de delivery room. It is fuh workers fuh show solidarity and unity and fuh dem to celebrate. But here, de unions not united even though dem marching. Some does bust off and go to a “opposition-friendly” venue so dem don’t have to be in de National Park fuh listen to de president. People want fuh know how come all of dem could be marching and celebrating and then bust off and still sehin it is “solidarity forever”! But dem who wuking with de agencies that budget get chop, ain’t gat nothing fuh celebrate.
Dem want fuh know how dem must observe de day, given that is “workers’ day” and dem jobs at stake. Dem don’t know if is “unsure about job” day or “I need a job” day. Both situation is cause fuh worry. Who knows if all de affected workers gon come out and “labour” fuh march today so that dem cause could get highlight again. If dem go to de National Park, dem gon hear that “government will do everything fuh save jobs”. If dem go to de “opposition-friendly” venue, dem gon hear, “no apologies fuh cutting jobs” and “if people lose dem jobs, so be it”. People want fuh know if David gon address dem there and would seh that he still want fuh create jobs!
People also want fuh know if Moses and Khemraj would seh that dem gat de welfare of people at heart! De affected workers sehin de opposition betraying trust since dem campaign fuh creating more jobs. De word “cut” get more popular since de budget debate. While it is new fuh de budget, some accustom to some form of it. De West Indies cricket team accustom to getting “cut tail” and some people does always be looking fuh a “cut-back”. Since de budget cut, plenty people now gat to “cut corners”. Dem who might lose dem jobs could end up “cutting de pack” fuh play cards whole day. Others does get cut fuh medical reasons. Fuh some, that “cut” does cause a “weight” fuh be lifted! Some does even get “cut-out” like Bishoo from de West Indies team fuh tour England!
People sehin that a certain lady who help cut de budget mek sure she do it after she get a “cut” fuh doing PR wuk fuh a man who contract get cut from de hydro project! Then, she was boasting how good de project is fuh all Guyanese by meking electricity cheap. Now, she “flip” and people gon have to pay a heavy bill fuh light! People seh that is called “self-interest”. That is why de “key” party don’t want de Marriott fuh get build because one of dem members own a big hotel here. Dem don’t want he get competition so that guests can get a better service! Guests at de man hotel seh it “peg” with poor service after being told that it is a “cut” above de rest.
People seh is de same way de ‘key” party fooling people after it seh it All Fuh Caring, but turn out to be All Fuh Cuts! Some seh that de “hands up” and “key” parties get so “sweeten” fuh cut, that de only thing dem eating is “cutters!” People seh at de rate dem going, “cutters” gon soon be short and get cut from de menu! That gon mek another set of people angry who can’t “munch” when dem “cut” time over a “finey”.

More cholesterol as Moses part people from dem jobs

It strange how sometimes things in life does change, some fuh good, some fuh bad. Long ago people just use to eat and didn’t worry if the food gat cholesterol. Now, people spend plenty time in de supermarkets just looking at de labels fuh see percentages of fat and cholesterol! De “long ago” people seh dem was more healthy! Years ago de country was bankrupt. Now it healthy and prosperous. People seh is de prosperity that mek de fancy food from overseas available all over so people can now read de labels before buying rather than just cook and eat! But de prosperity look like it getting threat as Carl and he pals try fuh mek change that ain’t gat no good in it. Carl use to wuk at de State planning place during de times when people ain’t had no labels fuh read. Later he turn Finance Minister and try fuh bring change but none didn’t come.
Some seh even “loose change” didn’t come. Now that he come back and things prosperous, he trying fuh mek change; from prosperity to bankruptcy just like how it was in he time. Last week he champion de closing down of de same State Planning that he use to wuk during de time when people ain’t had light fuh see fuh change dem clothes. He, Khemraj, David, Moses and de others who trying fuh tek back de country to de “long ago” days, ringing changes fuh put hundreds of people out of dem jobs. As Carl pilot de motion fuh cut de jobs, he driving a fancy car that yuh does only see in movies. Tom Cruise and de real James Bond does drive car like that! People seh Carl now enjoying de good changes. Some seh de duty alone pun de car can buy five mini-bus and de actual cost can buy about six. But as a MP, Carl ain’t have to pay duty. So if at all he buy it as a MP, it mean that tax payers ain’t benefit from de duty that de ordinary “Joe” must pay!
People want fuh know why he teking away de jobs of people who just earning fifty thousand in some cases and he driving fancy car and trying fuh look like “star boy?” The duty can pay plenty of de people who could lose dem jobs. Some seh is a sign that “massa day” coming back! Moses was once de Minister of Information fuh Uncle Cheddi and had responsibility fuh government information. He know de role of de organisation more than anybody else, yet he vote fuh close GINA! People seh he trying fuh be like de real Moses and want “part” things. He parting people from dem jobs! He, Carl and de others did seh dem gon create jobs! Some seh dem only creating more cholesterol in de workers who now under stress! De workers done read de labels in de budget cuts!
