Sparta Boss back on top in National Futsal Cup

Sparta Boss maintained their winning form on Thursday evening at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall when the National Futsal Cup continued.
In a highly-anticipated clash, Sparta Boss took on the new boys, the African Team and dominated them in fine style. With the talismanic Gregory “Jackie Chan” Richardson absent owing to national duty, Solomon Austin and Eusi Phillips stepped up and helped Sparta to a 5-1 drubbing of the Africans. Both had braces, with Austin netting in the 11th and 15th minutes while Phillips scored in the 13th and 16th minutes, with Courtney Britton helping himself to a single goal in the 3rd minute.
Benjamin Opara was the lone scorer for the African team netting in the 8th minute.
In what promised to be a high-octane encounter, MBK All-Stars were defeated by Leopold Street 4-1. Shalomo Hunte nabbed a brace in the 15th and 16th minutes while Desmond Cottan and Sheldon Profit scored a goal apiece in their side’s victory.
One of the favourites for the title, the Future Stars had a comfortable 3-1 win over the Hustlers. In the first minute of the game, Simon Emmanuel put the Hustlers ahead, but that would be the last sight of goal the Hustlers had. Jermain Junior turned up the heat and notched up a hat-trick for the Future Stars, finding the back of the net in the 10th, 15th and 20th minutes respectively.
Broad Street’s miserable run of form continued when Swag Entertainment defeated them 3-1 on the night. Shane Luckie with two goals (5th and 7th minutes) and Reston Fraser with one in the 13th minute blanked out Broad Street’s Daniel Favorite’s strike in the 6th minute.
After last weekend’s heroics, the Silver Bullets suffered a tame defeat 3-1 at the hands of North Ruimveldt. Eon Alleyne scored a double while Joshua Browne netted one goal in North Ruimveldt’s victory.
National Guinness in The Streets Champions, Dave and Celina’s All-Stars suffered an upset at the hands of New Market Street, losing 3-1. Orlando Ricketts was the hero for New Market Street with a hat-trick of goals in the 7th, 21st and 25th minutes.
Meanwhile, Gold is Money continued their resurgence with a 4-0 drubbing of Albouystown A while arch-rivals Back-Circle and Tucville had an entertaining game, which Back Circle eventually won 4-2.
Action will continue tonight at the National Gymnasium, with games beginning at 19:00h.
