Republic Bank Under-17 cricket starts Monday

With an improvement in the weather in the ancient county, the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) has decided to use the opportunity to run off the 2013 Republic Bank Under-17 Inter-Zone cricket competition, set to bowl off on Monday at the Albion Community Centre ground.

West Berbice, East Bank/New Amsterdam/Canje, Lower Corentyne and Upper Corentyne will compete in the tournament.

The competition, now in its fifth year, will consist of one-day, two innings matches, each of which will start at 09:00h with the first innings of each team limited to 60 overs.

The two semi-finals are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday with Lower Corentyne taking on West Berbice at Albion on Monday, while defending champion East bank/New Amsterdam/Canje and Upper Corentyne will play at the Cumberland ground on Tuesday.

The Albion Community Centre ground has been identified as an alternate venue for Tuesday’s game. Below are three of the four squads.

West Berbice: Adrian Singh, Mohan Deodat (Vice-captain), Randy Wade, Navendra Mahadeo, Grisean Grant (Captain), Akeem Miller, Shawn smith, Jason Johansen, Bramdat Singh, Loris Ramnarine, Imran Imitiaz, Terrence Dhanraj, Kishun Arjune and Parmanand Ramdhan.

Lower Corentyne: Balchand Baldeo, Ritesh Omrow, Brandon Persaud (Vice-captain), Daniel Lewis (Captain) Joshua Harrichan, Jason Anderson, S. Dookhna, Navendra Permaul, Kevindra Persaud, Asif Ali, Asif Khan, Veeramootoo Senwansane, Daniel Samaroo and Joshua Gobin.

East Bank/New Amsterdam/Canje: Shimron Hetmyer (Captain), Leon Andrews, Jerome Andrews Jnr, Clifton Lindie, Steve Deonarine, Filon Crandon, Kyle Michael, Kevin Sinclair, Devon Anderson, Jalim Jafar, Isaiah Lewis, Omar Weatherspoon and A. Thomas.
