Guyanese all-rounder Kellon Carmichael turned in a brilliant all-round effort to lead Club Crusoe to a six-wicket win over Avengers Sports Club in the Tobago Cricket Association Championship Carib 40-over tournament.
Batting first, Avengers made 175-7 from the alloted overs with Carmichael’s medium-pace returning figures of 3-35 from eight overs. Joel Kirk topscored with 55 not out, while Peter Moore made 30.
In reply, Club Crusoe found themselves in deep trouble at 26-4 before Carmichael and Rashad Forde put on a match-winning partnership of 135 from just 76 balls to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
Carmichael was the aggressor, finishing on a boundary-laden 70 from just 36 balls. His innings included seven fours and four sixes, while Forde ended on 59 from 40 deliveries with seven fours and six.
Carmichael, who was later named Man-of-the-Match, is registered as a guest player for Club Crusoe for the 40-over and upcoming T20 competitions.
