The Enmore Community Centre Cricket Club (ECCCC) tasted victory for the first time since its resuscitation by beating Wales by 15 runs last Sunday at the Wales Community Centre ground.
The East Coast Demerara team was inspired through an all-round performance led by Chandraban Seemangal and Premraj Lall.
Batting first after being inserted by the hosts, ECCCC made 140 all out from the allotted 30 overs with Lall topscoring with 30. Fellow right-handers Seemangal scored 25 and Ranjeet Heeralall chipped in with 24.
Bowling for Wales, C Persaud bagged 5-23 and R. Richards 2-15.
Seemangal, bowling off-spin, then snapped up 4-8 and Lall and Nandram Ganesh, 2-18 and 2-23, respectively as Wales fell short of their target by 15 runs, being dismissed for 125. S Persaud led all scorers in the match with 46.
The victory was welcomed by the Enmore lads since they had suffered defeats at the hands of Eccles Sports Club and St Cuthbert’s Mission in their first two matches a few weeks ago.
