CPA Secretary General Akbar Khan and Opposition Leader Bharrat Jagdeo met on Friday
Secretary General of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), Akbar Khan, made a courtesy call on Opposition Leader Bharrat Jagdeo at his office on Friday.
During the visit, the two discussed parliamentary related matters among other issues. The CPA is an Associated Organisation of the Commonwealth which links members of national, state, provincial and territorial Parliaments and legislatures across the Commonwealth.
A CPA delegation, head by Khan, is currently in Guyana and conducted a two-day Post-Election Seminar for local parliamentarians. The seminar wrapped up on Friday.
Khan, an overseas-based Guyanese, was appointed Secretary General in October last year after he was recommended to the 61st General Assembly by the Association’s International Executive Committee, which is made up of representatives of the nine regions of the CPA. He is the 7th SG of the Association.
