The recently returned Carifta team that had a 5-medal haul at the just concluded Carifta Games in Grenada had a chance to meet and greet with Permanent Secretary Alfred King at his head office on Main Street.
The 16-man squad along with the President of the Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG) Aubrey Hutson shared a light moment with Permanent Secretary Alfred King as he was able to meet the squad and the medalists.

King in his remarks urged the athletes to continue along their paths to success highlighting that there are no shortcuts to achieving success.
King further noted that the government will assist teams once there is a progressive development plan to aid in future Olympians.
Hutson in his remarks thanked King and by extension the Department of Sport for their support but noted that the Association will need more assistance.
In addition Hutson labeled the Carifta squad as future Olympians stressing that investing in the athletes is key if they are to ultimately succeed.
The squad returned with five medals with Andrea Foster picking up two bronze medals in the girl’s under-20 800 and 1500 metres, Chantoba bright with two silver medals in the girl’s under-18 long and triple jump and Natricia Hooper with silver in the girl’s under-20 triple jump.
