Ranks of the Guyana Police Force on Thursday made two interceptions, during which over four kilograms of marijuana was found.
According to Police reports, on Thursday ranks conducted a search on the baggage of a man at the 70K Checkpoint in Essequibo, during which they unearthed a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems.
The man was arrested and taken into custody, where the cannabis was weighed and amounted to three kilograms. The suspect remains in police custody, assisting with investigations. Meanwhile, ranks in the G Division were on foot patrol along the Guyana/Brazil Bridge at Takatu, Lethem, on Thursday when they observed a man in possession of a bag, acting in a suspicious manner.
As the officers approached him, he threw the bag away and began running. They were unable to apprehend the man but managed to retrieve the bag which contained 1 kilogram 600 grams of marijuana.
