GTTA endorses newly elected LTTC

The Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) endorses newly formulated Linden Table Tennis Steering Committee (LTTC) as an affiliated zonal member of the GTTA.

The executive committee of the GTTA has been actively engaging, supporting and providing direction to the plans, work, activities and members of this committee as part of its plans for the decentralization of the sport, according to a press release.
On Monday the GTTA President, Godfrey Munroe visited the Linden to meet with the newly formulated committee to listen to the plans and ideas of the LTTC and to outline the plans, projects and mandates of the GTTA.
The duly elected members as endorsed by the executive committee of the GTTA are as follows; Howard James  Chairman LTTC (ITTF level one Coach), Victor Wright Vice Chairman ( Businessman), Shavin Greene General Secretary (Teacher ITTF level one coach), Maurice Cummings Treasurer and Paul Jones Assistant Secretary Treasurer.
The committee’s mandate which falls under the supervision of the GTTA will be responsible for the promotion, development, coordination of the game in Linden.
During the meeting, the committee has set out some key initiatives as part of its plans/mandate to develop the sport in Linden, these include the hosting of a Novice School’s teams and Individual Table Tennis Championships at the McKenzie High School Auditorium.

Long Term Projection
As part of the long term projection the committee has identified the McKenzie High Schools auditorium as a central area where they can host six tables which would facilitate training of youngster in after schools and weekend type programmes so as to provide an active area/space where the sport can be played.
The committee also has set out as part of its plans the hosting of regional and national tournaments, the hosting of a skills challenge, and identification of new areas across the length and breadth of Linden among other key initiatives so as to have the sport being more actively played, the release noted.
