EBFA / Ralph Green U-11 League….
Grove Hi Tech got off to the best possible start in the Ralph Green sponsored East Bank Football Association (EBFA) Under-11 League when they registered a 2-1 win over Diamond United on Friday at the Grove Playfield.
It was the magic of Captain Tyrese Jones that led Grove to the win when he netted either side of the 30
minute contest in the Group A clash.
Five minutes into the match, Jones worked his way from the defensive end into the Diamond United box before smartly lobbing the ball over the head of the Diamond goalkeeper, Kemary Gittens.
The first half ended with Grove in the lead by a single goal even as Diamond enjoyed a few good moments. The trend of dominance continued for the home team in the second half with Jones doubling the lead in the 18th minute from a free kick just outside the area on the left side.
Diamond never stopped trying even though they were trailing and was rewarded with a consolation goal in the 26th minute, Jael Ross’ shot beating goalkeeper Romesh Persaud to his left.
The goal sparked celebrations from the Diamond team with Ross somersaulting to celebrate. Soon after the final whistle sounded and Grove came away victors 2-1. Friendship took full points from Agricola Red Triangle which failed to show up for their match-up.
It was the second win for Friendship who defeated defending champions Herstelling Raiders in the competition’s first match.
