YBG launches NSBF Regional Conferences

The Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) launched their 11 edition of the National School Basketball Festival (NSBF) Regional Conferences that is set to begin on April 15th at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH).
At the launching on Thursday at the CASH, Director of YBG Chris Bowman explained the reason his organisation continues to strive for the development of youth basketball in Guyana.

“11 years in only possible through dedication and hard work and understanding why we are doing this and we are committed to student and athlete development but we could not do it without our sponsors and supporters.
‘We are grateful and privileged to do what we have been doing,” Bowman relating, noting that Guyana will be able to field a strong boys’ and girls’ team at the under-16 Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) Championships which is slated for Guyana in July.
YBG”s main sponsors in Digicel, Edward B Beharry and Company Ltd, the National Sports Commission along with Banks DIH pledged their continued support to the event.
However, Banks DIH’s PRO, Troy Peters highlighted that YBG’s commitment was needed for the “growth” of basketball while Marketing Director of Beharry Group of Companies, Anjali Beharry-Strand  noted that, “Sports is the way to go, it helps the kids to grow… more money needs to be plugged into sport because the youths are the future,” Beharry-Strand stand.
Digicel’s Luanna Abrams assured that the telecommunication giants will remain committed to the event while Director of Sport Christopher Jones commended the YBG for their longevity while requested the organisation use the “50 Shades of Games” tag in accordance with the NSC’s celebration of Guyana’s Golden Jubilee.
Schools from all over Guyana will be involved in the event that will culminate in the July with the NSBF Championships that will name the national school champions.
