The Roy Fredericks’ Floodlight T20 Tournament has been given a major boost as Republic Bank and Big B’s – Baksh Restaurant jumped on board with the tournament.

The tournament which is slated for March 19 and 20 at the Blairmont Estate ground will be the last programme in the dedication to Roy Frederick’s contributions to cricket development in Berbice.
Guyana, the Caribbean and the intention of the Executives of Blairmont Cricket Club (BCC) was to dedicate the first quarter of the year to the former West Indies stalwart.
The fundraiser will look to address the main concerns of the club, which are the covers for the pitch; another club aim is to promote a Spelling Bee and a Math Quiz for Grade Six students in Region Five and to prepare them for the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA).
The two events will see ten top teams tussling for supremacy namely Cotton Tree; Die Hard; Young Warriors; Rose Hall Youth and Sports Club; Bath Underdogs; Blairmont Blazers; Skeldon Gladiators; West Berbice Super Kings; Black Bush Rangers; Bush Lot Strikers and Lusignan Emperors.
Blairmont Cricket Club also will partner up with Berbice Volley Association (BVA) during the event by hosting a volleyball outreach programme and a competition to resuscitate the game at the community centre.
The home team, Defenders, during 1995-2007 was one of the top teams in Guyana producing many junior and senior national players.
Attractions for the weekend will have a Domino Competition, live commentary, Ice Cream and Air horns giveaway, Bouncy Castle, Trampoline and live music entertainment from local artist.
