Having accepted the invitation from the Guyana Consulate (Florida) in collaboration with the South Florida Softball Cricket League (SFCCL) to the 13th Annual Florida Cup the Regal outfit are ready to go.
All of their players are in good shape and form while preparations off the field have put the players in a great frame of mind to bring back the top spoils.
Regal Softball Cricket Teams have been enjoying their recent form and are the double champions of the Guyana Softball Cup having won both the Masters and All-Star categories last November at the Demerara Cricket Club Ground in Queenstown.
Last July the Masters team finished as runners up in the Independence Cup which was played in July 2015 in New York.
However, in their debut season in the Florida Cup 2015 the Masters failed to make it to the play-offs but team Manager Mohendra Arjune said the hard work the players are putting in along with their confidence will go a far way in seeing the team do much better in 2016.
Preliminary matches will be played on March 11-12 at the Brian Piccolo Sports Park and Velodrome while the finals will be held at the historic Central Broward Regional Park in Fort Lauderdale.
Central Broward Regional Park is the only international cricket venue on American soil and it has been that way since Sri Lanka and New Zealand played the first international match back in May 2010.
Regal Softball Cricket Team received admirable support to make the trip possible and they are aiming to keep the Golden Arrowhead flying high while being good ambassadors of Guyana on foreign soil.
The 13th annual Florida Cup is being played in celebration of Guyana’s 50th Independence Anniversary and will be played in two categories; Masters for males over 45 years old and the All-Stars category for males of any age. The other teams from Guyana are Floodlights and Floodlights Legends in the Masters category and Wolf Warriors in the All-Star category.
