Playing at the BHS ground in New Amsterdam, Vryman’s Erven took first strike and were led by Schultz who made 77 (7x4s) and Nicholas Blake (37), managed to post 141 all out in their 1st innings; the pair, had put on 99 for the 6th wicket.
Bowling for BHS, off-spinner Devindra Moses took 4 for 48; medium pacer Jason Rishiram 3 for 39 and Jamal Sinclair 2 for 42.
When Berbice High replied, they could only muster 112 in their first innings with Joel Campbell top scoring with 44 and Alfred Demonick 18. Off- spinner Travis Sinclair snared 5 for 20 and while Aditya Budhoo took 4 for 34.
When Vryman’s Erven batted for a second time, any thoughts that Berbice High had of bowling them out cheaply, to secure a victory, was thwarted almost singlehandedly by opening batsman Lindon Campbell who proceeded to blast a quick 110 (10x4s; 6x6s) which together with 27 from Troy Caesar, saw Vryman’s Erven safely to 160-8 by the close of play.
