Santos Football Club delivered an outstanding comeback 2-1 victory over Western Tigers to go top of the table in the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Stag Premier League on Saturday at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC), Bourda.
The match was the highlight of the evening proceedings as the two unbeaten teams of the tournament were engaged in a highly eventful match.
Tigers who have entered this encounter as favorites due to their experienced team, took the lead in the 15th when veteran Dwayne Ali found the back of the net.
Despite the likes of talented winger Randolph Wagner and Devon Forde pressing for another goal for the West Ruimveldt based team, Santos defence held their composure; but just as it seemed the Tigers would hold the lead heading into the second half, talented forward Jobe Caesar netted in the 42nd.
It was in the second half where the youthful side played with a much more offensive mindset as Caesar along with Ryan Hackett began pressing for another goal but with just three minutes left in the grueling encounter, Tyresse Forde hit the back of the net top produce the late winner.
In the earlier match, Riddim Squad and Sunburst Campton played to a 1-1 draw.
As the first half of the game was static; Raul Adams of Campton scored in the 53rd to put his side in the league but when it seemed that the Campbellville based side would have coasted to victory the experienced Amos Ramsay got pass the back line to score in the 72nd to end the fixture 1-1.
