Innovation and creativity were the main highlights on Friday, as Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) presented its leg of the Regional Science Fair, through its Department of Education under the theme, “Enhancing Traditional Technologies to Sustain Modern Societies through Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)”.
Students of the Watooka Day Primary showcase a part of their presentation
The venue was the New Silver City Secondary School at Wismar, Linden where students of the nursery, primary and secondary divisions showcased their innovations in keeping with the theme. From the recycling of plastic bottles for use as kitchen aides to a sink disposal system, the venue was brought to life as scores of curious onlookers came out to witness the various inventions. Regional Education Officer Marcia Paddy-Andrews said the Region, which would also host the National Science Fair this year, was looking forward to having the largest contingent.
