“Cash Money” remanded for purchasing stolen jewellery

Popular salesman Jermaine Williams also known as “Cash Money” of Richmond Village, Essequibo Coast, was remanded to prison for purchasing stolen items from Avinash Ram.
Willams appeared before Magistrate Sunil Scarce on Friday at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court.
Police alleged that Williams on February, 27, 2016, purchased from Ram a gold chain valued $100,000 and a gold ring valued $20,000 property of Paramdai Yugeshwar. Police have also alleged that Williams purchased the items knowing that it was stolen.
Williams told the Court that he purchased the items and that Ram had approached him to borrow money and as such he purchased the items.
Ram however told police that Williams gave him two joints of marijuana for the jewellery.
Williams then told the magistrate that he was before the court for break and enter and larceny and he recently returned home after serving three years jail. He said he wants to live a decent life with his wife and begged Magistrate Scarce to grant him bail. He promised to attend all his trials.
The Prosecutor however objected to bail on the seriousness of the offence and its prevalence. Bail was refused and Williams is expected to return to court on March 16, 2016.
