Pream XI, Omesh XI extend unbeaten streak

Golyn 10/10 Softball

The Golyn 10/10 softball cricket tournament organised by the Guyana Softball League and sponsored by Trophy Stall and Golyn and Sons continued last weekend with two teams remaining unbeaten in the tournament. Omesh XI and Pream XI extended their unbeaten run as the competition enters its third weekend.

In the opening game, Pream XI made light work of West Coast Blazers, as they won by eight wickets. West Coast Blazers won the toss and batted scoring a paltry 69 all out in 10 overs with Hemendra Kowlessar 26 (3x6s) the only score of note.

Salman Khan took 2-6 from two overs and all the other bowlers bowled accurately to limit Blazers.
In reply, Pream XI raced to 70 -2 in 6.2 overs with Rajendra Kumar celebrating his birthday in style by clobbering 40 not out (1×4; 5x6s) off 12 balls.

Front-runners in the competition thus far, Omesh XI, destroyed Maracs XI by 85 runs.

Omesh XI took first strike and amassed 141 -8 in 10 overs with Vickram Kissoon hitting 50 (1×4; 7x6s); Quincy Jones 43 (1x4s; 6x4s). The two were involved in a partnership of 57 that propelled Omesh XI to the eventual score.

Zahir Khan took 2-17 from two overs. In reply, Maracs XI found themselves in trouble from the onset, losing their first six wickets for 39 in four overs and never looked like challenging the total as they were limited to 56 all out in seven overs. Mark Ally was the top scorer with 26 (3x6s). Vickram Kissoon completed a good day with 2-18 from two overs and he was supported by Vijai Jairam with 2-2 from one over.

The third match of the day’s proceeding saw West Coast Blazers defeating Amazon Warriors XI by 27 runs.
West Coast Blazers made amends for their loss earlier by scoring a challenging 128-4 in 10 overs. Leonard Harprashad made 46 not out (1×4; 3x6s) and Mohamed R.K Saffie 43 (3x4s; 4×6) in a partnership worth 47, while Mohamed Ahamad supported with 28 (3x6s).

In their turn at the crease, Amazon Warriors XI made a fight of it through Chris Sookram 37 (3x4s;2x6s) and Feroze Mohamed 25 (2x6s) and in a partnership of 43 that nearly won the match, but the rest of the batting could not upkeep the run rate which saw them being bowled out for  101 in 10 overs.

In the other games, Crossbreed Warriors hammered Power XI by 43 runs. Crossbreed Warriors racked up 119 all out in 10 overs with Elton Grant making 40 (5x6s). Power XI were then bundled out for 65 in 9.5 overs.
