An Agricola, Greater Georgetown, resident was granted $250,000 bail when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan slapped with a causing death by dangerous driving charge.
John Zephyr pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on February 13, 2016 at Brutus Street, Agricola, he drove motor car HC 4627 in a manner dangerous to the public, thereby causing the death of Rudival Azore.
Additionally, the 60-year-old man was charged for failing to report the accident. That charge alleged that on the same day while being the driver of the said motor vehicle, after being involved in the accident, he failed to report the said accident to the nearest Police Station or to a Police Constable within 24 hours of its occurrence.
Police Prosecutor Deniro Jones unsuccessfully objected to bail, citing the gravity of the offence. The case will continue on March 21, 2016.
