Former West Indies Test batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul rolled back the clock to stroke his way to an attractive 164 to help Everest Cricket Club (ECC) to a draw against the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) in the Georgetown Cricket Association’s (GCA) first division, two-day competition on Sunday.
GDF batted first and were bowled for 109. Leon Williams got 29 as Javed Rasheed grabbed 5-18, Troy Gonsalves and Shabeer Khan picked up two wickets a piece.
Everest responded with 255 all out with Chanderpaul leading the way with 164; Akshaya Persaud made 26 and Ronaldo Renee 25.
Randy Lindore captured 3-74, Niall Smith 2-50 and Romario Shepherd 2-56.
Trailing by 146, GDF were 56-4 when stumps were drawn on the second and final day. Kevin Ramdeen was not out on 22; Gonsalves had 3-18.
The competition continues this weekend throughout the city.
