A construction worker was granted bail in the sum of $70,000 when he appeared before Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court to answer a charge of robbery under arms.
Kevin Edwards also called ‘Milo’ of Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, Region Six (East Berbice/Corentyne) is accused of robbing Winston Hope.
It is alleged that on February 18, while in the company of others and being armed with a gun, he robbed Hope of a gold chain valued at $120,000 and gold ring valued $56,000.
During the proceedings on Friday, Edwards told the court that he was never identified by Hope as the person who robbed him.
When asked by the magistrate about the circumstances surrounding the arrest, Police Prosecutor Phillip Sherriff informed the court that he is unaware about the conditions surrounding the identification of the accused.
Bail was granted on condition that Edwards report to the Central Police Station every Friday.
The case will continue on March 14.
