A labourer who pleaded guilty of possession of narcotics was fined $3000 and ordered to perform 20 hours of community service when he appeared before Magistrate Annette Singh at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Winston John of Lot 4-A Laing Avenue, West Ruimveldt, Georgetown, stood to answer the charge which stated that on February 25, 2016 at Hunter Street, Albouystown, Georgetown, he had in his possession 3 grams of cannabis.
John pleaded guilty and requested that the court be lenient on him, promising that he will never do drugs again.
He was subsequently fined and ordered to perform community service, failure of which he will have to serve two months imprisonment.
The magistrate also warned him that if he ever appears before her again on the same offence he will be jailed.
