Lusignan Cricket Club was crowned champions of the East Coast Cricket Board (ECCB) 2014 Under-15 competition after they defeated Ogle Cricket Club by 17 runs on Sunday.
Lusignan won the toss and batted first, registering 191-8 from their allotted 40 overs. Opening batsmen Anil Singh (21) and Avin Gangadin (18) added 52 runs for thr first wicket. Lusignan, however, slipped to 79-4 in 22 overs before recovering to reach their eventual score. Robin Singh (32) and Mike Persaud (31) were the main scorers, while Vishal Moonchan and Bisham Mohabir were the chief wicket-takers with figures of 2-22 and 2-43 respectively.
In reply, the Ogle youngsters were bowled out for 174 in 35 overs with Nand Sanicharan hitting a topscore of 53. Bowling for Lusignan, Sean Persaud took 3-24, while Mike Persaud and Singh bagged two wickets each.
