Cotton Tree Die Hard, Bath through to semi-finals

Cotton Tree Die Hard and Bath registered convincing victories in their latest preliminary matches to earn spots in the semi-finals of the 2013 Norman Singh Memorial second division 20/20 cricket competition, which was specially organised by the Berbice Cricket Board for teams in West Berbice.

In Cotton Tree Die Hard’s second round victory over Blairmont Community Centre resulting in them earning the bye through to the semi-final, Blairmont Community Centre did well to score 132-3 in the reduced 16 overs.

Berbice Under-19 batsman Nick Ramsaroop led the way with 65, but with Jagdeo Persaud scoring 53, Cotton Tree easily reached 136-3 with more than three overs to spare.

Bath meanwhile dismissed Achievers for 58 in 12.3 overs in their third round match with off-spinner Ravi Gossai doing the damage with 4-8 from three overs. Led by opening batsman Chetram Dhanpersaud’s 37 not ou, Bath then strolled to a nine-wicket victory in just 6.5 overs.

Hopetown United advanced to the third round by defeating Bush Lot New Generation. They will now clash with D’Edward with the winner earning the bye to the final.

At Cotton Tree: Cotton Tree Die Hard beat Blairmont Community Centre by eight wickets. Blairmont Community Centre 132-3 from 16 overs (Nick Ramsaroop 65, Abdul Subhan 32, Roshan Gafoor 2-18) Cotton Tree Die Hard 136-3 from 12.3 overs (Jagdeo Persaud 53, Roshan Gafoor 29, Shabeer Baksh 2-33).

At Bath: Bath beat Achievers by nine wickets. Achievers 58 from 12.3 overs (Ravi Gossai 4-8, Vinod Ramjattan 2- 6, Kapil Armogan 2-12) Bath 60-1 from 6.5 overs (Chetram Dhanpersaud 37*).

At Bush Lot: Hopetown United beat Bush Lot United by seven wickets. Bush Lot United 76 from 18.2 overs (Amin Ally 4-10, Derick Cadogan 3-10, Emerson Benjamin 2-21) Hopetown United 77-3 from 15.1 overs (Ruel Edwards 30).
