Foo, Algu lead Albion Travellers to victory

NBS second division 40-over cricket…

The 2013 New Building Society (NBS) second division 40-over cricket competition in Berbice continued last weekend with some outstanding performances.

Opening batsman Bruce Foo slammed 97, which included seven fours and six sixes, and together with 80 not out from Brian Algu, helped Albion Travellers post 238-5 from 30 overs against Rose Hall Guns and Cannons, who were then bowled out for 152 in response. Off-spinner Bhupendra Matadin picked up 4-21.

Fizul Permaul scored 76 to steer Number 55 Mayflower to 244-9 from 30 overs against Number 59, before leg-spinner Dilip Singh took 5-25 to help bowl out Number 59 for 132.

Farook Drepaul’s 50 helped Number 43 Scorpion defeat Johanna Bush Rangers by seven wickets, while Anthony Seeraj’s half-century saw Corriverton to victory.

Meanwhile, there were also five-wicket hauls for Jairam Tilkuram of Letterkenny Young Star and Kumal Ganesh of Kennard’s Memorial.

At Mibicuri: Kennard’s Memorial beat Mibicuri Strikers by three wickets. Mibicuri Strikers 93 from 29.1 overs (Kumal Ganesh 5-20) Kennard’s Memorial 94-7 from 15.2 overs (Kamaldevin Permaloo 32).
