The Price is Right Supermarket Upper Corentyne second division cricket competition started with a blast when Springlands opening batsman Trishan Ramdass hammered 135 to help his team defeat No. 72 All Stars by 168 runs.

The belligerent Ramdass stroked 11 fours and 12 sixes in his innings as Springlands reached 289-5 from 35 overs. In reply No. 72 All Stars were bowled out in 23.5 overs for 121 runs; bowling for Springlands Nadeem Shahabudeen took 3 for 23 and T. Ally, 2 for 1.

In other first round matches:

Skeldon Community Centre defeated Young Royals by eight wickets. Young Royals were bowled out for 46. Bowling for Skeldon Victor Pedro took 3 for 8, Deon Esau, 3 for 14, while Skeldon replied with 47 for 2 with Christohper Jaundoo scoring an unbeaten 31.

No. 70 Young Stars defeated No.73 Young Warriors by eight wickets. No. 73 Young Warriors scored 145 with N. Jainarine scoring 36. Bowling for No. 70 Young Star T. Kumar took 4 for 14; in repay No. 70 Young Stars scored 149 for 2 with A. Haniff and K. Sugrim scoring unbeaten scores of 56 and 34 respectively.

No. 48 Challengers defeated No. 52 Survival by 16 runs. No.48 Challengers made 161 with Askhay Homraj scoring 45 and M. Homraj, 34. Bowling for No.52 Survival M. Kendal took 3 for 24, N.Cambell, 3 for 23. No. 52 in reply were bowled out for 145 runs; M. Harvie scored 34 and D. Ramdeen, 25.

Bowling for No.48 B. Persaud took 4 for 20, B. Samaroo, 3 for 16, and J. Baijnauth, 2 for 28. The competition continues this weekend with 13 matches at various venues in the Upper Corentyne area.
