The Essequibo Cricket Board (ECB) has named a strong 14-man squad to represent the Cinderella county in this year’s Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Pepsi Senior Inter-County 50 overs tournament.
Former national Under-19 players Royan Fredericks and Anthony Adams were appointed captain and vice-captain respectively.
The squad also includes national T20 selectee Dillon Heyliger and former Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) fast bowler Gilford Moore.
The tournament, which gets underway on September 21, forms part of the preparation for the upcoming regional 50-over competition. It is also being used as a benchmark to select the local squad to participate in the regional competition, scheduled for January next year.
The three preliminary rounds will be played at the famous Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) while the final is scheduled for the Albion Community Centre, ground.
Round one of the tournament will see Essequibo and Demerara clashing. Round two is scheduled for September 24 between Demerara and Berbice. The final preliminary round is fixed for September 26 with Berbice facing Essequibo. The two top teams will clash in the final on September 29.

The coach is Vibert Johnson while the team manager is Otto Christiani.
