Dead: Rinaldo “Steven” Tinnie
The post-mortem examination was done by Dr Nehaul Singh at the Georgetown Public Hospital on Friday. Dr Singh confirmed that the man’s body bore multiple injuries which may have been incurred as a result of a vehicular accident. Tinnie’s blood alcohol level was high, indicating that he was highly intoxicated prior to his death.
Tinnie was discovered dead on the Providence Highway on Monday last about 03:00h in the vicinity of the Rubis Service Station with several bruises and lacerations upon his body.
It was reported that Tinnie had refused to go home with his reputed wife on Sunday evening after a party at Summer Set Court, Herstelling, East Bank Demerara.
From all indications, he was robbed before he was struck down by a heavy-duty vehicle since his cellular phone, money, and shoes were missing. His pants were found close to his body.
His reputed wife, Shanila Austin told this publication that she and Tinnie attended a party at friend‘s home but after a while she decided that it was time to go home and called a taxi to collect them, but as the car arrived, he refused to go with her.
Despite her attempts to get him into the car, he ran back towards the party, so she left, but not before attempting to make contact with her friends to inform them that he was heading back to their house. She never got through.
After Tinnie did not return home, she enquired about his whereabouts from friends and relatives but to no avail. She continued to look for him and visited the Providence Police Station where she was informed about a body they had found. Her worst fears were confirmed when she visited the Lyken Funeral Home. The distraught women said that she and Tinnie had been together for 11 years and were due to tie the knot on July 29.
