A fine all-round performance from Tamesh Charritar guided Sans Souci Jaguars to victory over Good Success in the final of the AFS Shipping Twenty\20 competition on Sunday at the Wakenaam Community Centre ground.
The Jaguars batted first in front of a fair sized crowd and managed 120 before they were bowled out in 19.4 overs. Charritar slammed four fours and three sixes in a topscore of 47 while Satrohan Shiwnandan supported with 24 (3×6).
Medium pacer Lokram Narine claimed 3-27 and offspinner Nazeer Mohamed, 2-20. Purposeful bowling by pacer Siddiq Mohamed (3-19), Dellon Osborne (2-8) and Charritar (2-14) helped to bowl out Good Success for 95 all out in 18 overs.
Chandrika Ragnauth (14) and Nazeer Mohamed (11) were the only batsmen that offered any resistance as the Jaguars won the game by 26 runs.
Charritar received the Man-of-the match award while Imran Khan (87 runs) of Good Success took the best batsman prize; Moin Khan (10 wickets) of Sans Souci Jaguars collected the most outstanding bowler trophy.
Chairman of the Wakenaam Cricket Committee (WCC) Moses Ramnarine thanked the sponsors while Secretary Nazeer Mohamed said he hoped the competition will serve as an impetus for others to invest in cricket on the island.
