RHTY&SC/Namilco/Bakewell Champion of Champions 20/20

Bermine looking to shrug off semi-finalists tag

The Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTY&SC)/National Milling Company (Namilco)/Bakewell sponsored Champion of Champions 20/20 cricket competition will start on April 21 and climax on May 26.

Proceeds from the competition will go towards the purchase of a mini-bus to assist in the transportation needs of the RHTY&SC.

ANSA McAL Trading is also on board with the RHTY&SC for this tournament, having earned the bar rights.
The tournament will feature eight teams competing in a knockout format with the champion receiving $200,000 – the biggest prize for a champion team in a tournament organised by a club in Berbice.
The runner-up will collect $100,000, while the third and fourth place finishers wil

l pocket $50,000 and $25,000 respectively. The Man of the Match in the final will be $10,000 richer.

Battling for supremacy will be West Berbice, Blairmont, Bermine, Young Warriors, Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets, Port Mourant, Skeldon and Albion.
Guyana Times will profile each team ahead of the highly anticipated competition, which will be played at three venues in the Ancient County, namely, the Skeldon, Port Mourant and Albion grounds. Below is a mini-profile of the Bermine team.
The Bermine Cricket Club like West Berbice over the last five years has most times reached the semi-finals of the first division competitions, but has fallen at this stage to either Albion or Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets.
With one of the youngest teams in Berbice, Bermine is going through a learning curve and is expected to come through it a better team once their players gain more experience.

Former national Under-19 player Joemal LaFleur will lead the team in the absence of players like his brother Eugene LaFleur, Anthony D’Andrade and Devon Clement, who are all overseas fulfilling contracts.

Trison Bynoe, Keion DeJesus, Damon Vantull, Romario Shepard and Stephen Latcha. Medium-pacer Tremayne Smartt, Mark Jackman

and Romario Shepherd are all capable new ball bowlers and will receive support from left-arm spinners Gavin Moriah Jr., Damon Vantull and Troy Mickle. Off-spinners Latcha and Troy Mathieson will offer support.
The team is managed by Carl Moore, with his son Julian being the coach.
